31st October 2025

After a successful Spooky Shanties session at One Canon on the 26th of October, the team at Edinburgh Shanty Night is looking at - dare we say it - the year ahead. We are delighted to confirm that we have dates booked in at The Argyle Cellar Bar and the Old Chain Pier every month until late April! We are also actively contacting some special venues outside of Edinburgh (gasp!) that we’ve had our eye on.
In other news, we hope we can confirm merch before the end of the year for those who want it, so keep your eyes peeled for any announcements.

Our main mission is getting people together and singing, because we truly believe it does wonders for a sense of community and well-being. If you can think of any way we can improve our nights, or if there’s something you’d like to see, please don’t hesitate to get in touch! We always want to hear from you.

It’s time to tell you more about our special shanty night on Sunday, 26th October. Keen-eyed shanty enthusiasts will have spotted that the event listing on our front page names a completely new venue - One Canon, EH3 5HA.

Late October is filled to the brim with Hallowe’en and Samhain festivities, and we don’t expect you to dress up if you don’t want to. What we’re proposing, rather, is that you embrace the spirit of things. Whether that means “ghosts” to you, or you want to embrace the shanty spirit by dressing up like General Taylor (or Greasy Annie!), then you are more than welcome to do so. None of this is a must, of course!

Expect candle light, haunting melodies, jaunty songs and 35 leagues of fun.

One Canon is a venue that offers great food, so why not get some pizza or fries? We’re kicking things off at 7.30pm, so you could head down early for food, or order throughout (last orders at 9.45pm)
