High Barbary
There were two lofty ships, from old England they did sail,
Blow high! Blow low! And so sail we!
And one was the Prince of Luther and the other the Prince of Wales,
Sailing down along the coast of High Barbary!
“Aloft! there aloft!” the old bosun he did say,
Blow high! Blow low! And so sail we!
Look ahead and astern to the weather and the lee!
Sailing down along the coast of High Barbary!
Well there’s naught to the stern, and there’s naught to the lee,
Blow high! Blow low! And so sail we!
There is a ship to windward and she’s sailin’ fast and free!
Sailing down along the coast of High Barbary!
“Oh hail ‘er oh hail ‘er” the Captain he did say
Blow high! Blow low! And so sail we!
“Are you a Man o’war or a Privateer?” said he,
Sailing down along the coast of High Barbary!
“I’m not a Man o’war or a Privateer” said he,
Blow high! Blow low! And so sail we!
But I’m a salt-sea Pirate and I’m lookin’ for me fee,
Sailing down along the coast of High Barbary!
& Broadside for broadside along time we lay,
Blow high! Blow low! And so sail we!
‘til at last the Prince of Luther shot the Pirate’s mast away,
Sailing down along the coast of High Barbary!
“Oh quarter oh quarter!” the Pirates they did cry,
Blow high! Blow low! And so sail we!
But the quarter that we gave them was to sink to the bottom and die,
Sailing down along the coast of High Barbary!
Sailing down along the coast of High Barbary!
